PHILOSOPHY
Greenwich International Preschool at the Wideworld Children's Corner and Acorn Children's Corner is committed to creating a diverse learning community. At the school children engage in critical thinking and dialogue in the pursuit of knowledge and understanding of the world and each other. Parents and educators work collaboratively to enable young children to develop a love of learning as they are provided with abundant opportunities for experiential learning. Children learn to think, reason, question and experiment as they participate in hands-on activities with a variety of open-ended materials. The curriculum at Wideworld Children's Corner/Acorn Children's Corner is also influenced by our Japanese and American heritage and dedication to the principles of social justice and peace education. Our teachers skillfully facilitate problem solving and peaceful conflict resolution, teach respect for each other, promote social responsibility and integrate the Eastern and Western cultures into every aspect of our early childhood programs. We promote developmentally appropriate practices as we build the foundation for lifelong learning.
Greenwich International Preschool / Acorn Children's Corner offer wide array of programs including a half-day and full-day childcare for families working outside the home. Our capable teachers ask insightful questions and help children expand upon their thinking as they build meaningful curriculum from the emerging interests of their students. In addition to our many talented teachers, special teachers of arts, music and Karate will enrich children's everyday lives. For those who stay after program can take special class of piano, violin, Karate, Tea Ceremony, and foreign language classes.
